May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13
Have you been stepping out of your comfort zone lately? Or perhaps you are feeling a bit stretched thin and discouraged or even hurt with so many life challenges. I’ve been meditating on this verse for a while now and I aimed to represent it in an abstract painting – something I don’t do quite often, I must say. Can you see how this week’s painting relates to this verse?
Our lives are made of seasons of all shades, ups and downs, and things tend to get messy sometimes. But the key in this verse is that there’s only one thing that can get us through: God meets us in our messiness and He offers us an overflow of joy and peace when we trust in Him.
This verse is almost a loop: if we trust in God — by faith, despite circumstances that are beyond our control — He can fill us with joy and peace and that will be translated by an overflow of hope by the power of the Holy Spirit in us. All this hope will help us to exercise more trust in Him that will bring us more joy and peace.
It is my choice to trust and I can declare this trust even when my feelings want to say otherwise. I know what will come next, eventually. An overflow of inexplicable joy and peace that will deepen my faith and help me to walk through this chapter of my life.
Have a wonderful week!
