And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
Luke 2:8-11
I always dreamed of seeing the Northern Lights (aurora borealis) in person. In my mind, this has to be one of the most glorious displays of God’s greatness in motion, in a natural phenomenon. Have you ever seen them?
If God can put together a show like that for no obvious reason, I can only imagine what it was like when an angel appeared to the shepherds in the middle of the night to announce the birth of Jesus, and his glory shone around them.
As you get ready to celebrate the good news of the birth of Jesus, may you be filled with awe and wonder, for his glory, his power and his wisdom are way beyond our human comprehension. Glory to God in the highest and Merry Christmas!
