Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
Psalm 91:1-4
A couple years ago, when we didn’t have to do everything online, I taught a watercolour workshop and we talked about Psalm 91, as it was the theme of our painting. It tells us about the Lord’s protection and refuge that will cover those who decide to dwell and rest in Him. You see, as I studied that portion of Scripture, these two words from verse 1 stuck with me – to dwell, to rest. They are a calling for action and they carry such a sense of steadfastness, evenness, consistency. God’s promises are wonderful and entirely available but we must grab them, rest in them, dwell in them. It is first and foremost our choice. May we be consistent with our choices this week! I pray that you have all the courage and strength you need to go through whatever challenges this week holds, trusting in Him to cover you under His wings.
Ps: After playing with a few I design styles to present the paintings, I think I finally found something I like: to display them in a square image with a main word from the Bible verse as a theme. I might need to adjust a bit here and there as we go but I really like this presentation – good thing it only took me 12 weeks, eh? How do you like it?
